SafeWork NSW has actively warned businesses, emphasising the critical importance of promptly notifying and avoiding disturbances at workplace incident scenes. With a significant uptick in the number of non-notified incidents and disturbances of scenes, SafeWork's message is clear: safety must always be a top priority in the workplace.
Throughout this year, SafeWork NSW has taken decisive action against non-compliant businesses, issuing 140 compliance notices and levying fines totalling over $55,000. Alarmingly, one-third of these offences transpired within the construction industry, highlighting the urgency of addressing safety protocols in this sector. It is essential to understand that whenever a workplace experiences a severe injury, illness, fatality, or dangerous incident, legal obligations dictate that it must be reported to SafeWork immediately.
